The Living Desert

Marketing Collateral, Engaging Guests Through Design

To enhance guest engagement and promote membership at The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, I contributed to a variety of creative projects, including the tri-annual Foxpaws magazine, animal trading cards, and other marketing handouts. These materials not only drove attendance but also provided educational and memorable takeaways for guests of all ages.

Foxpaws Magazine

As the zoo’s flagship publication, Foxpaws is distributed to members three times a year, featuring compelling content that highlights conservation efforts, upcoming events, and behind-the-scenes insights into the zoo’s operations. I oversaw and designed three complete issues, managing the entire process from concept to production.

Zoo Trading Cards

This collectible series spotlights the zoo’s beloved animals, detailing their origins, diets, and conservation facts to inspire stewardship and awareness of endangered species. As part of an initiative I rolled out, these trading cards were distributed during special events to drive membership, boost attendance, and further engage guests in the zoo’s conservation mission.

Brochures and Outreach Materials

I designed a range of brochures and printed materials to support the zoo’s mission and connect with diverse audiences, including membership brochures, educational opportunity flyers, volunteer recruitment materials, and sponsorship packages. Each piece was crafted to align with the zoo’s branding and mission, featuring vibrant imagery, accessible layouts, and persuasive content to engage and inform. These materials played a crucial role in enhancing outreach, increasing memberships, and fostering community involvement.

Conservation Coloring Pages

In an effort to raise awareness about two local desert species in the Coachella Valley—the Desert Tortoise and Monarch Butterfly—I created a series of conservation-themed coloring pages. These illustrations were designed for zoo events to engage visitors and educate them on the importance of preserving these species.
